Our Mission

Lower Haight Local is a hyper-local magazine for Lower Haight, featuring art, articles, columns, recipes, social calendar, and more from your neighbors. It is a physical magazine to be left on doorsteps and featured at local businesses.

We believe strongly that print is the best medium for connecting with your neighborhood. On this site, you'll find out about us, a few featured stories, and an update event calendar. But there is no digital edition -- in order to read the paper, you'll need to find it in Lower Haight each month. When you pick up this paper, you know that all of its content has been specifically crafted by someone just around the block.

This paper has been crafted to be quickly digestible - less a deep news publication and more of an invitation - to get to know your neighbors, to engage with the people and community around you, and to come closer together.

Our mission is to strengthen the fabric of our neighborhood by creating a platform where neighbors can share their stories, celebrate local culture, and build connections that make Lower Haight feel like home.

Note: We are currently pending 501(c)(3) nonprofit status.
