1. Join an Event

We host a beginning-of-the-month block party where we distribute the magazine, often on the first Saturday of the month. It's one of the easiest ways to get involved, help get copies into neighbors' hands, and meet the people making the paper.

We usually publish the volunteer link in the couple days before the event. Watch for it on our events calendar , on Instagram , and in the newsletter.

We also host an art night on the third or fourth Wednesday of the month, announced the same way.

2. Write for Us

We appreciate all kinds of articles for the magazine: reported stories, neighborhood features, essays, interviews, poems, columns, photos, art, and weird little ideas that feel Lower Haight.

As a guide, a full page is about 650 words with doodles. A half page is about 300 words. We're always looking for stories.

3. Join Our WhatsApp

Because the group is around 200 people, the best way to join is to come to an event and ask us in person. We'll add you there. It's a great way to stay up to date, hear about volunteer needs, and follow what neighbors are organizing.

4. Join Our Leadership Team

We'll periodically put out a call for new leaders to help edit, distribute, organize events, or take on other magazine tasks. All of our positions are currently full, but we'll post a call when we need more people.
