Lower Haight Local Is Now a 501(c)(3)

by Joel Reske March 9, 2026

We’re excited to share that Lower Haight Local has officially received 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status from the IRS, backdated to October 2025.

This is a big milestone for us. It means that all donations to Lower Haight Local are now tax-deductible, including those made since October 2025. If you’ve already donated, thank you — your contribution qualifies for a tax deduction. If you’ve been thinking about supporting us, now is a great time.

You can donate on our donate page.

What’s next

With our nonprofit status official, we’re now able to apply for grants to support our work covering the Lower Haight neighborhood. We’ll be researching and applying for grants that align with our mission of connecting neighbors through local journalism and community storytelling.

As always, we’re a volunteer-run publication and every bit of support helps us keep printing and distributing the magazine for free throughout the neighborhood. Thank you for being part of this community.
