Dogs of Lower Haight: Sophie

The daily post-work parade of dogs in lower haight is a hard place for a pooch to stand out, but one glance at Sophie and I knew she was something special. This good girl has been living in lower haight near Haight and Pierce for two years, but has been a San Francisco resident for most her life. Starting south of the border in Mexico, she moved up to Los Angeles where she was adopted by her dads, Ivan and Andreas. A year later they all moved up to San Francisco and have been regulars at Duboce Park since. Her friendliness is only rivaled by her excitement for life. She’s a dynamic woman, always darting between smelling the nearest tree trunk, munching on sidewalk grass, checking out the dog across the street, and optimally placing herself in front of you for butt scratches. For all these reasons, and more, she is what one of her owners would call an ‘outside girl’. You might notice that one of Sophie’s eyes looks a little different than the other. She was born with a condition that has caused her to go blind in that one eye, but thats never stopped her from finding the best stick in the park. If you see her walking on the wiggle make sure you say hello (in English or Spanish, she’s bilingual!).
